Reflective Vinyl – Different Applications

Reflective vinyl is one of the most commonly used vinyl nowadays in various applications ranging from making headwear, pet clothing, t-shirts, outwear, casual wear, and umbrellas. Besides these applications, it can be used for making decals that can be used for making street sign, road signs, and signs on police cars, fire trucks and emergency trucks.

Reflective vinyl is a kind of vinyl that is formed from two main components namely chloride which is extracted from common salt and ethylene that is extracted from crude oil. Hence, it is a synthetic man made material that is widely used across the world. The reflective vinyl has certain unique characteristics such as it comes in a variety of colors and sizes, durability, resistance against humidity and water, thus can withstand the extreme weather conditions such as harmful sun rays, heavy winds and rain falls. The reflective vinyl has a metallic and reflective base that is responsible for reflecting back the light that falls on its surface.

This particular vinyl comes in standard size that can be cut to shape and thus, can be applied to any surface which is glossy. When this particular vinyl is used for making clothing, it has certain limitations such as you cannot dry clean, must not iron and always wash in warm water. Reflective vinyl offers actually a sharp lined image that has consistent texture and has different varying colors and hence, can be cut into any shape as per the need and the requirement. Apart from the regular reflective vinyl, there are super reflective material vinyl that can be cut via CAD followed by heat applied which gives exceptionally good reflectivity. Thus, makes it perfect to be used for making street and road signs that reflects back the light that falls on it making easy to whatever is written on it. Since reflective vinyl comes in a wide variety of color. Therefore, there is unlimited choice for vinyl. Vinyl is cut from rolls so that there will be sufficient scrap. However, if there are multiple colors, the images are cut from different color rolls and then are pressed onto the garment one by one. This whole process is economical when there are small quantities of garments. By adopting this particular process, you may get the best possible and the sharpest image.

In order to attain different effects, different kinds of vinyl can be mixed. To exhibit dimensional effect, such as shadows, vinyl can be cut into patterns. To achieve special emphasis, non reflective as well as reflective could be added. Furthermore, the colored reflective vinyl comes in a complete range of colors and reflects white color when light falls on it when viewed from the distance. On the contrary, the silver vinyl consists of glass beads that are highly reflective in nature. However, appear gray when these are seen under the normal light.
